Slevi said "These days in gaming though typing is something I hardly do anymore so
reduced the need for a messenger like xfire, services like skype and
ventrillo instead :)."

That's great for you, some people can't talk. I am so sick of people passing on text messengers because the majority can speak and the majority is also idiots who talk so stupid, it's almost better they type instead.
Xfire is an essiential peice of software for any gamer especially if they are in a clan as it helps organise matches and lets everyone keep up to date with what everyone is up to. Xfire is turned on, on my computer from the moment I turn it on to the second I turn it off!

Some people still prefer the written chat over the voice chat. Also, there are people who don't have the equipment to use voice chat.

I count myself to the first group, although I believe my real reason to use Xfire is to keep an eye on my gaming stats.

About the crashing, it rarely happens to me. I had it a few days ago while transferring a file. Aside that I had no crash lately.

Btw, mind sharing your Xfire username? If you don't want to post it here, add me or send me a mail :)

Mainly in the past I used it a lot as messenger, since I began using it recently again though just for recording my gaming time for whenever I find the time to game lately.

The crashing definitely is somewhat annoying, one reason for it to crash without notice is on a high memory load. As I run boinc in the background which eats up quite a bit on top of all the other crap I have on, running a game the memory usage goes up to roughly 3~4gb. Xfire doesn't tend to like that and whenever a memory spike comes up it crashes.
